Tane Mahuta would be so amazing to see I think. He is such an iconic tree and really does look like King of the forest! I think you are right about not just going to see Tane Mahuta but also it's beautiful surroundings.
Unfortunately, something called Kauri Dieback disease threatens Tane Mahutas future however luckily there are some really amazing people out there working really hard to combat it.
