The Boing Boing Egg

WALT...
- I am learning to conduct a fair test with a range of variables

We were put into groups of ether two or three people and find an experiment to show what we have learnt about fair testing. When we found an experiment we all agreed on we found the materials we needed to conduct the experiment. Once we did the experiment and had all our data we had to put it on a board showing what we did to do it. It was fun and challenging trying to count how many times the egg bounces.

Next Steps: Find a better surface to show how the egg bounces
What I Enjoyed: Bouncing the eggs that had been socking in vinegar for 4 days
What I Found Challenging: Gluing everything onto the board.

        we had to make a info-graphic which is a combination of pictures, diagrams,symbols,flow charts, words and numbers to show information in a fun interesting way, to show what we have learnt while reading about how volcanoes work.

         - I can research my topic by asking a question, searching for sources and putting the information I have in my writing.

        we had to write a persuasive essay on one of four topics miss Sutherland picked out for us, there was 1) Year 7&8 students should have an afternoon break 2) We should learn a language at school 3) We should have Summer Sport Tournament 4) We should be able to play computer games after we finish our work. i chose number 4 because I like playing computer games so i thought it would be fun to write about it.

        What I Enjoyed: looking up the pictures to show some of the games that are educational.
        What I Found Challenging: writing the information I found in my own words.

        Sometimes kids just want to play, a break from work. There are many games to play and some are
        educational. Letting kids learn while having fun is a great way for children to learn, what do you
        think.

        When there is lots of work kids get bored. They would just like a break, a time to play games time
        to have fun and enjoy themselves at school making them want to come. Sometimes they just need
        to have time to play games to help themselves get back on track and continue learning.

        Some games are educational but also fun making kids want to play and learn. There are lots of
        educational games around the corner and lots of good ones like education academy which is a
        game where you can go on adventures and compete quests by yourselves or with friends, you can
        even customise your character to fit your personality.  

        Playing computer games after work helps students learn more and want to come to school to learn
        and finish work so they can play more games. So when they want to come to school it makes it
        easier for parents to get them ready or get them to school and easier for teachers to teach
        because the children can’t wait to start, it is very motivating, so they can finish and then play
        more.

        Research shows that games like education academy has helped kids learn while having fun and
        parents are happy that they signed their children up for it. Education Academy is an amazing
        game the helps children want to learn because they get to learn while having fun.

        Now you can see that there are lots of benefits to playing computer games after work, thank you

        - I can write a shorter persuasive Post by making a claim and backing it up with reasons - I can plan for a longer persuasive post by identifying the topic, audience and genre - I can research my topic by asking a question, searching for sources, identifying information and paraphrasing
        the facts.


        We had to write a persuasive text on a topic of our choice. the topic I chose was why buy an Electric Vehicle, the reason why i chose this topic was because gas cars are destroying the environment and puncturing a hole into the ozone layer. I think this mistreatment to nature should stop and we can start by buying an electric vehicle.

        Next Steps: add more information to persuade the reader more.
        What I Enjoyed: researching reasons why people should buy an electric car.
        What I Found Challenging: writing the research i found into my own words.


        I believe that you should buy an electric vehicle, what are your thoughts? The reason why I think you
        should buy an electric vehicle is that it cost less to run and because its better for the environment.


        Electric vehicles are great for the environment because to charge the car you use electricity that
        does not produce greenhouse gases other than gas cars that do produce greenhouse gas that
        punctures the ozone layer. 


        Electric vehicles are great for the environment but they are also amazing because of the pricing of
        charging it compared to buying fuel for a gas car. The pricing of an electric vehicle is between 50,000
        to 100,000 in NZ dollars and 3 to 10 dollars to charge taking between 20 min to 1 hour to charge
        depending on the model of the charger.


        Electric vehicles are made from lots of different dealerships like Hyundai and more. There are also
        lots of new charging points that have been made for electric vehicle owners.there are some all around
        Christchurch and one at the warehouse in the Rolleston square.

        In conclusion, electric vehicles are better than gas cars because they are better for the environment
        and cost less to run.

        we had to read a few of Roald Dahl's nursery rhymes and then recreate one into our own. the own I chose was the three little pigs.

        what I found challenging: coming up with rims in my nursery rhymes

        There were three little pigs one named Charlie, one named Sam
        and there big brother Daniel who was leading the fam
        They were kicked out to feed for them self with nothing but each other for help
        A man walked past with rotten hay what for
        And Charlie cried out can I have some i'm poor
        The man said yes the stock won’t eat it anyway
        So he stocked Charlie up and gave the rest away
        Charlie built all day and all night
        Clickity clack he was all done
        He had a building a place he can call home
        His brothers asked please may we come in
        And Charlie said Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin
        So they snorted and snorted and blew his house down
        And off They went homeless still
        Another man past with wet and socked wood
        And Sam cried out can i have some
        The man said yes why not i don’t need it
        And through it on the grass for him to use
        Sam built all day and night
        Clickity clack he was all done he had a building to call home
        His brother asked can i come in
        And Sam said not by the hair of my chinny chin chin
        So he snorted and snorted and blew the house down
        Daniel went off still homeless indeed
        A wolf cried out are you alright
        Daniel said no I have no home and i'm cold
        So the wolf said come and live with me its nice and warm there indeed
        So Daniel followed him down the road shivering cold

        So the wolf grabbed a shotgun and said

        The two pigs barged down the door
        And bang bang they were dead
        Daniel found a home and a brand new friend

        Paragraph Writing

        Paragraph Writing

        WALT...
        - Use paragraphs to link similar ideas together
        - write in structured, well developed paragraphs that flow well from one to the next within the text
        - use linking words and phrases to link paragraphs for effect


        with the following picture we had to write paragraphs with links between each of them. first we had to write down the five senses which were see, hear, feel, taste and smell. once we finished filling the senses out we had to start writing. it was hard especially linking the paragraphs but in the end I think it turned out great.

        Next Steps: To get more ideas down and make it longer
        What I Enjoyed: Writing down the paragraphs
        What I Found Challenging: to link the paragraphs together.

        His girlfriend dumped him in the middle of a  jog through the woods at 6:00. His heart shattered to
        pieces, he didn’t want her to see his emotions so he ran, as far away as possible tears built in front
        of his eyes making it hard to see, then he tripped and landed in a river losing a shoe he continued
        stepping on prickles that stabbed his foot. He was so distracted he didn’t see the cabin. 


        He tripped and fell to the floor, He staggered with pain into a corner bitter tears flowing from his eyes.
        A window flapped open and hit him on the head sending him forth into another corner, some tears
        slithered into his mouth. The taste was not pleasant. The trees got angry and started attacking the
        cabin scaring the life out of him, he jumped back into a spider web a spider bit him on the arm. He
        felt woozy and fell to the ground.


        He woke up and put his hand on his forehead then he noticed the spider bit from last night it was
        swollen, he had to get to a hospital but he had no idea where to go. He was lost, he wandered around
        the forest looking for a way back to town. The poison from the spider bite was getting to his head he
        couldn't walk properly and felt like he was going to fall, he had to find help.


        He woke up a man leaning over him. It was his dad,he sat up he was in a hospital room, he looked
        at his arm it was better the date was 1 may 2017, he was in a coma for 1 month. He remembers
        when his girlfriend dumped him, his face changed from confusion to sadness. His life has changed
        forever.

        Deepening our characters


        Deepening our characters:

        This week I enjoyed making my own character

        It was lots of fun and I could use as much creativity as I liked and with that it made it way funner and easier. First we had to answer question about our character and we were aloud to answer with anything.next we had to right a script on the characters greatest fear or their most favourite memory. writing a script was very hard but the more I worked the easier it got.

        I enjoyed answering the questions because they could be random  and did not need to be true.
        next time I will make my character a living being not a teddy.
        What I found really interesting was how funny my script came out.

         Going for a ride in the washing machine
        2. What’s the worst thing that has happened to your character? This will impact your characters
        personality, their relationships. E.G, the worst thing that happened could be, their parent/sibling passing
        away when they were younger. This would then affect the way they relate to people and make friends. OR,
        they broke their arm really badly when they were younger. This involved hours at the hospital and a lot of
        pain. Nobody rushed to help them and now, they are terrified of the hospital and refuse to go. Be specific.
         Being terrorised by a vicious creature called a dog meaning that he is stupid.
        3.    If they could have anything in the world, what would it be? Be specific.

        Yogi runs around the house bashing Lamb_lamb on the walls and floor.


        Lamby: I’m Coming Lamb_lamb, man it takes forever to run oh wait i’m a teddy i can fly.


        Lamb_lamb: Hurry up! He's about to rip off my head and then I'd have to go to the sewing room.


        Yogi: Woof woof


        The TV turns on because at 12:00 is when Lambys favourite TV shows on


        Lamb_lamb: what are you doing Lamby.


        Lamby: Shh My favourite TV show is on Dora the explorer.


        Lamby said with a mouthful Lamb_lamb’s Doritos


        Lamb_lamb: are those my Doritos, when I get away from this, I will kill you


        Lamby: you can’t kill me i'm a teddy. Now shush I’m trying to watch my show.


        Yogi:woof woof


        As Lamby was watching his show Lamb_lamb got thrown into the muddy puddle outside in the
        driveway.

        Lamb_lamb: yes now I get to go on the cool washing machine ride.

        Life Of A child in an LEDC country.


        Intro
        It’s a terrible life for children in poor countries they can’t run around with their friends at school or have
        a play during the weekend because their most liking working for their family. If you would like to learn
        more about life for children in an LEDC countries then read on.


        Opening Sentence
        An education is the key for a great job but what if you can’t get an education.


        Topic Subject
        In an LEDC country, there is a lack of education for children and instead of school, they walk a long
        way just to get water for there family. Some other children have a job of grabbing firewood for their
        boss only to get 40c when a small bag of sugar the size of your hand is 20c. Another job for children is for them to sit on the cold concrete floor in the dark to make things like toys to get nothing but a place to sleep at night. But the place they sleep is in the concrete room on the floor with just a blanket


        Topic Subject
        The reason for this is because of the lake of money because the people in charge aren't being fair to their
        country and used the money for themselves instead of the people of the country. When that happens
        everyone has to do a thing to survive because of the lake of food and work instead of going to school.


        Conclusion

        We should help these countries get back into shape so that they are able to live a happy life and have an
        education so that they can get a good job.

        Carector derscition

        Pig the pug’s skin is all wrinkly. His snout isn’t to be seen. his eyes are bulging red looking in both directions. He is big and his legs are small how does hold his wait I don’t know.

        Pig is the centre attention and hogs the spotlight. He always tries to get what he wants. He is mean and selfish, with his toxic tongue. He will never share with anyone but himself. In the end, he always gets what he deserves, and that’s a trip to the hospital to get patched up.

        When pig wants centre attention he takes it from Trevor leaving Trevor with nothing. Pigs selfishness makes everyone around him sad because he is only caring about himself and not others. when pig shoves Trevor into his Trevor's rocket the consequence is that the rocket will fall and hurt someone.

        Pigs room is a dump there are clothes on the curtains and stains on the walls. Bugs crawling around the floor and over food scraps, The mattress is half on the floor and the sheets hanging over the door. Broken glass on the bedside table and the light bulb hanging by a wire. His toys are stacked in a corner behind mouse traps to keep them safe.

        “We are at the scene of the crime were The one called Pig the pug fell out a window or was he shoved. We are here with his closest friend Trevor the sausage dog”. “I didn’t push him he piled up his toys in a huff and climbed it making it wobble side to side then he fell out the window”. “He sabotaged me” said pig in a wheelchair rolling towards us. Trevor was so angry he jump on pigs toys and push them into the bin and laughed and laughed and laughed while pig cry and screamed. Trevor and pig went to court and that's were a big disaster will unfold.
